About ORVSD

An Online Resource for Teachers

Learning can’t be bound by borders like the walls of a classroom or the boundaries of a school district. The Oregon Virtual School District is an online library of tools for teachers. But it’s much more. It allows teachers, students, and parents to extend their capabilities beyond what was imaginable even just a few years ago.

Students can use the ORVSD to supplement their classes. Parents can track a student’s progress online. Teachers can hand out assignments, grade tests, and share innovative teaching strategies with colleagues throughout the state. Interactive instruction, web videos, and podcasts deliver time-tested lessons in cutting edge ways.

The need for the ORVSD couldn’t be greater. Oregon’s new diploma requirements mean extra classes for students. The skills a student needs in the future are not those of the last century. At the same time, the high tech tools available for today’s classroom go beyond those of yesterday. The Oregon Virtual School District is here to get students ready for work, college, and a life of learning without limits.

Welcome. The future is here.

The Oregon Virtual School District is a program led by the Oregon Department of Education that, in cooperation with a consortium of virtual learning providers throughout the state, seeks to increase access and availability of online learning and teaching resources free of charge to the people of Oregon. Oregon State University is providing hosting and development resources through a partnership with the OSU Open Source Lab and the OSU Business Solutions Group.
